Essar Centre Events


The Essar Centre is a major show piece for Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario citizens, with OHL hockey, a wide variety of entertainment, trade shows, and much more.

The Essar Centre hosts the Ontario Hockey League Soo Greyhounds, which are one of the best entertainment sources for the city during the long winter months.  The new entertainment facility has  a capacity of 5,000 seats and standing room.  When the Essar Centre is used for traditional entertainment and artists the capacity is 6,100 people.

The original arena was named the Sault Memorial Gardens, in honor of the World War veterans.  The new arena was built adjacent to the old site, and has modern vending and food facilities, private executive suites, and a catering department.

There is also a VIP room at one end of the Essar Center, and also media and broadcasting rooms which are available for use during various events.
